Entry For Pixel Day 2023
HUMANHUNTERS - Industrial Chiptune
I've never done anything even remotely 8-bit or 16-bit sounding in my life before, so this is a first attempt at such a thing, combining 8-Bit soundsources with crushed '16-bit'-like outputs. Fairly generator and sample-friendly, but in shorter cuts, basic ADSR, delays/echoes being F.I.R based (in intentions) to stay fairly faithful to past limitations, outputs sitting at the 16-Bit 32KHz 'equivilent quality' with believable downsampling. Some additional processing work done for better web-streaming playback and for looping outside the NG Audio Player.
Quite a number of synth emulations (both analog, virtual-analog and rompler workstation/rack-likes) I have in my usual synth template coincidentally had their real hardware-selves released in the 70's, 80's and 90's, so having the outputs from them sampled to such a format is also very realistic, since that's how alot of the OG Soundfonts originally got their sounds from (with very little being from 'modern-style sources'). Due to this, everything is 100% 'from source' per-say and given heavy console-based or outboard-emulated distortion/saturation (whether that is from proper emulations, custom recordings from myself, or library-based emulations) before downsampling, then EQ'd, then re-downsampled again afterwards to get the crushed-while-bright tones that I'm seeking for this.

What the hell man this slaps!!
I like the chiptune on this one
This is pretty fucking awesome for a first attempt. :) Very Doom/Wolfenstein/Splatterhouse in feel and tone.
I'd certainly play the hell out of this game, based on the song alone. ;)
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
